Tess illustrated, designed, and co-created this game. She’s a gutsy girl whose childhood best friend lived on a cul-de-sac eerily like this one. They started a detective club and solved neighborhood mysteries. They would have loved this game.

Tyler grew up playing lots of games: cooperative with family, competitive with friends. He set out to make a game for groups—friendly for introverts like himself—and designed to thwart quarterbacks (can't tell me what to do if you don't know which team I'm on!)

The Process

We began full-time development of Girls vs Ghouls in August 2023. While always rooted in the concept of a team game where you don’t know your teammates, the game has evolved through countless revisions, creative breakthroughs, cups of coffee, and bars of chocolate.

We’ve rigorously playtested at conventions and conferences across the USA, along with local testing and development in the Golden Gate Gamemakers community of the San Francisco Bay Area.
